NCGG Hosts 3rd Capacity Building Program for Civil Servants of Sri Lanka

The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) at Mussoorie, India, commenced its 3rd capacity building program today for senior civil servants of the Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Running from May 13th to May 24th, 2024, the program aims to equip 41 senior civil servants with the tools necessary to implement technological advancements for societal improvement.

The program, organized by NCGG, an autonomous institution under the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Government of India, focuses on action research, studies, and capacity building in public policy and governance. This initiative reflects India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and fostering cooperation with other countries, in line with the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (“The world is one family”).

Shri V. Srinivas, Director General of NCGG and Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), inaugurated the session. He highlighted the mutual learning opportunities between India and Sri Lanka in governance practices, emphasizing the concept of “Maximum Governance, Minimum Government” with a citizen-centric approach.

Dr. AP Singh, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator, provided an overview of NCGG’s operational framework and the program’s objectives. Sessions cover various topics, including All India Services, Constitutional Foundation of Policy Making, and Digital Governance, aiming to impart knowledge on transformative policies and governance strategies.

The program includes field visits to institutions like the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy and the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun, offering practical exposure to governance mechanisms. Additionally, visits to institutions in Noida and Gurugram provide insights into cutting-edge technologies shaping governance practices.
