NDA Ally Withdraws Support from Biren-Led Govt in Manipur

GG News Bureau

Imphal, 7th Aug. The Kuki People’s Alliance (KPL), an ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has given the Manipur government a serious blow.

The KPL party in Manipur on Sunday announced to withdraw its support for the N Biren Singh government. KPM has also sent an email to the state governor, Anusuiya Uikey, in this regard.

KPL chief Tongmang Haokip also notified the party’s decision to break ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Manipur in his letter. This, however, poses no challenge to the government because the BJP has 37 members in Manipur’s 60-member Assembly.

Haokip said in the letter, after careful consideration of the current situation, there is no point in continuing to support the Manipur government led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

He has said in the letter, for this reason KPL withdraws its support from the Manipur government.

The KPA has two MLAs in the assembly, KH Hongshing from Saikul and Chinlungthang from Singhat. NPP has seven and NPF has five MLAs. Congress also has five MLAs.

KPA General Secretary V Lalam Hongshing has said that we have sent a letter to the Governor through email. We have two MLAs and we were supporting the government from outside. In view of the current situation, there is no point in continuing the support.
