New Delhi, 22nd June. The NEET-PG entrance examination 2024 , scheduled for Sunday, June 23 at 9am  has been POSTPONED , the Ministry of Health announced on Saturday night at 10PM. The decision follows recent allegations regarding the integrity of various competitive examinations.

“Taking into consideration the recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, the Ministry of Health has decided to undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of processes of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by the National Board of Examinations for medical students,” the ministry’s statement read.

“It has accordingly been decided, as a precautionary measure, to postpone the NEET-PG Entrance Examination scheduled to be held tomorrow, i.e., 23rd June 2024. The fresh date of this examination will be notified at the earliest,” the ministry added.

The health ministry expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the students.

“This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of the examination process,” the statement said.

This postponement marks the third significant competitive exam to be cancelled or deferred in the past three days.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Education announced the cancellation of the UGC-NET examination, which determines eligibility for assistant professorships, junior research fellowships, and admission to PhD courses in Indian universities and colleges. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that the UGC-NET paper was leaked on the darknet, necessitating its cancellation.

On Friday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) deferred the CSIR UGC-NET examination due to “unavoidable circumstances” and “logistical issues.” Pradhan clarified on Saturday that while there was no leak in the CSIR-UGC NET, the postponement was required for logistical reasons and to ensure the smooth conduct of a retest for 1,563 NEET candidates scheduled for tomorrow.

The NEET-UG exam was conducted by the NTA on May 5, with around 24 lakh candidates participating. The results, announced on June 4, were followed by allegations of question paper leaks in states like Bihar, along with other irregularities.

The Ministry of Health has emphasized its commitment to ensuring the integrity and fairness of the examination process, highlighting the importance of maintaining trust in these critical assessments. Further updates regarding the rescheduled NEET-PG examination will be provided as soon as possible.
