Karnataka, 21st April. A political controversy in Karnataka, which is headed for elections, has been sparked by the death of a Congress councillor’s daughter in Hubballi on her college campus. She was purportedly rejected by a man’s marriage proposal.

Although “a personal angle” was cited by the ruling Congress, the opposition BJP believes that “love jihad” was the real reason for the murder.

Accused Fayaz Khondunaik fatally stabbed first-year MCA student Neha Hiremath on the BVB College campus. The suspect, who was later taken into custody, reportedly admitted to the police that he had repeatedly stabbed Neha since the two were in a relationship and she had been ignoring him lately.  But according to the victim’s family, he killed her because she turned down his proposal of marriage.

BY Vijayendra, head of the Karnataka BJP, stated that on the surface, it seems to be a case of love jihad. He asserted that chief minister Siddaramaiah was attempting to shield the offender rather than looking into the reasons behind the incident.

“The current Congress administration is unconcerned with anything. When the blast occurred in Mangalore earlier, deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar claimed it was a little stray event rather than a terrorist strike. Many were taken into custody when an inquiry was conducted. In reference to the Hubballi-Dharwad incident, the CM’s actions are regrettable.

Rather than saving the family, he claims the murder was committed out of a personal grudge. The state administration is being questioned by women all around the state, he said.

According to Siddaramaiah, there is excellent law and order in Karnataka, and the murder was committed for personal motives.

The victim’s father, Niranjan Hiremath, claimed that his daughter had rejected the man’s pledge of love.

“My daughter was stabbed seven times by an unknown individual as she was coming home from college, and she instantly passed away. The defendant is already in custody. The victim’s rejection of the accused’s declaration of love served as the catalyst for the murder.

Before the incident, we spoke with the accused and told him that since you are Muslim and we are Hindu, we are unable to permit you to get married,” he told ANI.

In the meantime, the accused’s father has expressed regret to the victim’s family.

Fayaz’s father, Baba Saheb Subani, a school teacher, told the media on Saturday that he was horrified and devastated by his son’s actions when he learned about the incident at around 6 p.m. on Thursday.

“Fayaz ought to receive punishment severe enough to deter anyone from doing the same in the future. I apologize to Neha’s family members with folded palms. “She resembled my daughter,” he remarked, his eyes welling with sorrow.

He said he’d received a call from Neha’s family telling him the man had been bothering them. He asserted that the two were romantically involved.

“Fayaz told me he wanted to marry her but I refused it with folded hands,” he stated.
