Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday conducted an inspection of the Faridabad Bypass Site and the ongoing construction of Package 1 & 2 of the DND Sohna Highway on National Highway-148 NA, including the spur of the Delhi Mumbai Expressway.

The project, part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, is being developed on a Hybrid Annuity Mode with an estimated cost of Rs 3565 Crore.

Spanning over 33 km, this ambitious infrastructure initiative seamlessly integrates major highways such as the Direct Noida Delhi flyways, Delhi-Meerut, Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP), NH-2 (Delhi-Agra), Delhi Mumbai Expressway, and Jewar airport connectivity highway.

The project features a 6-lane access-controlled highway with 3-lane service roads on both sides in the brownfield stretch. Notably, it incorporates 8 elevated sections, totaling a length of 12.034 km, along with 10 flyovers, 6 VUPs, 11 LVUPs, 13 Minor Bridges, 1 ROB, 1 RUB, 6 Bus Bays, and 102 box culverts.

In a bid to enhance aesthetics and environmental sustainability, the project incorporates vertical gardening on piers, offering aesthetic, physiological, economical, and environmental advantages. Additionally, a noise barrier has been installed along elevated sections to mitigate noise pollution.

Furthermore, the project is set to reclaim 10 hectares of barren land, previously used for fly ash dumping, for a jungle safari project initiated by the Delhi government.
