Gorakhpur, 19th Sept. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a floating restaurant at Ramgarh Tal on Thursday, emphasizing the establishment’s commitment to hygiene. Referring to recent controversies involving food contamination, Adityanath assured the public that the new venue, named ‘Float,’ will maintain high standards of purity.

During his address, Adityanath highlighted recent incidents where vendors were caught serving contaminated food. He pointed out a viral video from September 12 showing a teenager spitting on rotis at a Saharanpur eatery, which led to the owner’s arrest. Another case involved a Ghaziabad juice vendor arrested for allegedly mixing urine into fruit juices. Similar incidents in Noida saw arrests for selling contaminated juice.

The Chief Minister remarked, “It is good that people here will at least not be served Hapur-wala juice or rotis with spit. Whatever is served here will be pure.” His comments aimed to reassure the public of the restaurant’s commitment to food safety.

The floating restaurant, named ‘Float,’ began construction on August 17, 2022, and is now ready to welcome guests. Featuring state-of-the-art facilities, the three-floor, 9,600 square-foot venue can accommodate 100 to 150 visitors. Designed with an attractive interior, ‘Float’ is set to provide a premium dining experience on the water.

The Uttar Pradesh government had earlier mandated food vendors along Kanwar Yatra routes to display their names to promote transparency, a measure that was met with mixed reactions. The floating restaurant’s opening underscores the government’s push towards enhancing food safety and consumer trust.
