NUJ Strongly Condemns Rahul Gandhi’s Team for Misbehaving with Journalist in Texas, Deleting Video

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 15th Sept. The National Union of Journalists (India) has strongly condemned the incident of misbehaving with a journalist and deleting the video during an interview with Indian Overseas Congress President Sam Pitroda during the foreign visit of former Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in Texas, USA. When journalist Rohit Sharma asked Sam Pitroda that ‘Will Rahul Gandhi discuss with US lawmakers about the Hindus being killed in Bangladesh’, Rahul Gandhi’s team misbehaved with him and snatched his phone and deleted the video. The journalist was forcibly kept in the hotel room for 30 minutes.

National Union of Journalists (India) President Ras Bihari said that it is surprising that on one hand Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of decreasing freedom of media in India during his visit to America and on the other hand, members of his team misbehaved with an Indian journalist when he asked a question and forcibly deleted the video. He said journalist Rohit Sharma, while narrating the incident, said that the same question was asked by a journalist to Rahul Gandhi and it was posted on Congress Social media Platform X.

NUJI President Ras Bihari said that during the interview with Sam Pitroda, members of Rahul Gandhi’s team created a ruckus to stop the interview.

He said that Rahul Gandhi has targeted journalists earlier also. All the spokespersons of Congress keep attacking the media panelists. Before that, journalists were insulted by asking their caste.”

The NUJ has called for accountability and demanded that such actions against journalists not be tolerated.
