Panaji, 7th April: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate the first conference of Zone VII of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in Panaji, Goa on April 9.

The two-day conference will bring together key parliamentary leaders and legislators from Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra to deliberate on governance, development and regional priorities.

Among the prominent attendees will be Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh, and senior legislative leaders from participating states.

The conference will focus on two major themes — the role of young legislators in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047, and regional priorities in trade, tourism, urbanisation, environment and coastal connectivity.

CPA Zone VII comprises the legislatures of Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra, and this will be its first conference following the restructuring of the CPA India Region into nine zones in 2024.

The event aims to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, facilitate exchange of best practices, and promote dialogue on key policy challenges and opportunities across the region.

The valedictory session on April 10 will be attended by Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
