Over 480 Trains Affected Due to Foggy Weather

New Delhi, 8th Jan. The Indian railways announced on Sunday that foggy weather had hampered the movement of over 480 trains.

“Due to foggy weather, approximately 335 trains have been delayed, 88 cancelled, 31 diverted, and 33 short terminated,” a railway official said.

A dense fog blanketed northwest India and the adjoining central and eastern parts of the country, disrupting road, rail, and air traffic movement.

At 5:30 a.m., dense fog reduced visibility to 50 meters at the Palam observatory near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.

Flights that are not CAT III compliant may be affected, according to the Delhi International Airport Limited.

Passengers are advised to contact the airline in question for the most up-to-date flight information.

According to the weather service, very dense fog occurs when visibility is between 0 and 50 metres, dense fog occurs when visibility is between 51 and 200 metres, moderate fog occurs when visibility is between 201 and 500 metres, and shallow fog occurs when visibility is between 501 and 1,000 metres.
