Ajmer, 13th Sept. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed grave concern over individuals in Constitutional positions causing distress to the nation, condemning such behavior as “despicable, condemnable, reprehensible anti-national conduct.”

Speaking at Central University of Rajasthan on Friday, Dhankhar said that every Indian abroad represents the country’s culture and nationalism, and urged citizens to prioritize national interests above personal or political gain.

In his address, Dhankhar underscored the need for national unity, irrespective of differences in color, religion, caste, culture, or education.

He stressed that history does not forgive those who act against the interests of their country, highlighting the necessity to uphold national dignity and interests. “The world laughs at us when a person in a Constitutional position engages in behavior abroad that undermines our institutions and neglects national interests,” he added.

Dhankhar also praised the new National Education Policy (NEP), describing it as a transformative initiative for the country.

He encouraged States that have not yet adopted the NEP to do so, emphasizing that the policy is a national initiative and not associated with any political party. The NEP, introduced after three decades, aims to make education relevant and aligned with students’ aptitudes and attitudes, moving beyond traditional degree education.

Addressing the importance of education, Dhankhar remarked, “Education is what brings about equality; it strikes at the roots of inequality. It is education that is changing today’s social landscape.” He pointed out that education is crucial for societal progress and equality, noting that leaders from humble backgrounds have risen to prominent positions, highlighting the power of education to transform lives.

The Vice-President also urged citizens to focus on their Fundamental Duties and respect the Constitution, asserting that national unity must prevail during challenges. The event at the Central University of Rajasthan was attended by several dignitaries, including Vice-Chancellors from other universities.

Dhankhar concluded his address by emphasizing India’s growing influence on the global stage, affirming the nation’s role as a significant and self-reliant global leader.
