Pakistan Fears Modi, Peace Prevails in J&K: Amit Shah

Mendhar, 21st Sept. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday stated that peace prevails along the borders of Jammu and Kashmir, as Pakistan now fears Prime Minister Narendra Modi and would not dare to open fire. Shah made these remarks while addressing an election rally in Poonch district’s border area, in support of BJP candidate Murtaza Khan.

Shah praised the BJP-led central government for eliminating terrorism in the region and replacing the weapons in the hands of youth with laptops, emphasizing that the government will not allow guns to disrupt the peace in Jammu’s hills.

“We will construct more bunkers along the borders to ensure the safety of the people. I want to remind you of the frequent cross-border firings in the 1990s. Is that happening today? No. It is because the earlier rulers were frightened of Pakistan. Today, Pakistan fears Modi. They wouldn’t dare fire a shot, and if they did, they would face a befitting response,” Shah declared.

The BJP leader is currently on a three-day tour of the region, during which he is scheduled to address four more election rallies in Surankote, Thanamandi, Rajouri, and Akhnoor. His visit comes ahead of the ongoing assembly elections, the first in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, which led to the bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories—Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.

The first phase of polling took place on September 18, with the second phase scheduled for September 25, and the third and final phase on October 1. Results will be announced on October 8.
