Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has been sent to a 14-day judicial remand in a corruption case. The country’s anti-graft body had requested an extension of Khan’s physical remand, but the court rejected it.

The hearing took place at the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, where Khan is currently imprisoned. Khan, along with his wife and sisters, attended the hearing.

The National Accountability Bureau’s request was denied, and Khan was placed on a 14-day judicial remand. He was interrogated for over two hours by the anti-graft watchdog in the Adiala jail.

The case involves the settlement of 190 million pounds, which was sent to Pakistan by the UK’s National Crime Agency.

Instead of depositing the amount in the national treasury, Khan allowed a businessman to use it to settle a fine imposed by the Supreme Court. In return, the businessman allegedly gifted land to a trust set up by Khan and his wife.

The accused have been served a notice by the anti-corruption body, and the court granted four more days for interrogation in the previous hearing.

Khan has been in jail since August 5 and has faced numerous cases since his removal from power in April 2022.
