New Delhi, 8th Nov. Parliament’s Winter session is expected to start in the second week of December and may end before Christmas, according to sources.

The session is likely to begin shortly after the vote counting in five states on December 3.

During this session, three important bills that aim to replace the IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act will be discussed, as the standing committee on Home has recently approved the three reports.

Normally, the Winter session starts in the third week of November and concludes before December 25.

Another significant bill awaiting approval in Parliament concerns the appointment of the chief election commissioner and election commissioners.

Although introduced during the Monsoon session, the government did not push for its passage in the special session due to opposition and protests from former chief election commissioners.

The government aims to elevate the status of the CEC and ECs to that of the cabinet secretary, who currently holds the status of a Supreme Court judge.
