Phase 7 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 904 Candidates to Vie for Seats Across 8 States/UTs

In the upcoming Phase 7 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a total of 904 candidates will vie for seats across 8 States/Union Territories. With 2105 nomination forms filed for 57 Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs) in these regions, the electoral landscape is set for a significant contest on June 1, 2024.

The nomination process concluded on May 14, 2024, with 954 nominations deemed valid after scrutiny. Among the states, Punjab led with 598 nomination forms across 13 PCs, closely followed by Uttar Pradesh with 495 nominations spanning the same number of constituencies. Bihar’s Jahanabad PC received the highest number of nomination forms at 73, with Ludhiana in Punjab trailing closely behind at 70.

Across the 8 States/UTs, the average number of contesting candidates per PC stands at 16, reflecting the competitive nature of the upcoming elections. As the nation braces for Phase 7, the electorate awaits the outcome of this crucial phase in shaping the future governance of the country.

  • Jharkhand: 3 PCs, 153 nomination forms received, 55 valid candidates after scrutiny, and 52 final contesting candidates.
  • Odisha: 6 PCs, 159 nomination forms received, 69 valid candidates after scrutiny, and 66 final contesting candidates.
  • Punjab: 13 PCs, 598 nomination forms received, 353 valid candidates after scrutiny, and 328 final contesting candidates.
  • Uttar Pradesh: 13 PCs, 495 nomination forms received, 150 valid candidates after scrutiny, and 144 final contesting candidates.
