New Delhi, 14th July. Today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi wished everyone, especially the people of Tripura, a happy Kharchi Puja. The festival begins today at the Chaturdasha Devata (Fourteen Gods) Temple at Khayerpur, Old Agartala.

The Prime Minister posted on X:

“Best wishes to everyone, especially the Tripura people, on the occasion of Kharchi Puja! May the divine blessings of Chaturdash Devata always be with us, giving joy and good health to everybody. “May it also bring prosperity and harmony to everyone’s lives.”

About the Kharchi Puja celebration

The festival has been held since the former royal dynasty and is associated with elaborate rites and customs. Kharchi Puja is celebrated in the Ashadha month and is profoundly rooted in the region’s religious heritage and culture.

The ceremony began Saturday afternoon with the treasured practice of bathing the Fourteen Gods’ idols in the Howrah River. The occasion was attended by temple officials, priests, and a group of devotees who performed traditional rites.
