New Delhi, 1st August. Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally congratulated shooter Swapnil Kusale on his historic bronze medal win in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Speaking on Thursday, Modi praised Kusale’s exceptional performance and resilience, highlighting that every Indian shares in the joy of his achievement.
“Exceptional performance by Swapnil Kusale! Congrats to him for winning the Bronze medal. His achievement is special as he is the first Indian to win in this category,” PM Modi wrote on X.

Kusale, a 28-year-old from Kolhapur, Maharashtra, scored an aggregate of 451.4 in the final to secure third place. China’s Liu Yukun won gold, and Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish took silver. Kusale’s win also marked India’s third medal in shooting at the Paris Games.
President Droupadi Murmu also extended her congratulations, celebrating Kusale as the first Indian to medal in this event.
“Heartiest congratulations to Swapnil Kusale for winning bronze! This is a historic achievement and India’s first three medals in shooting at the same Olympics,” she wrote.

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also lauded Kusale’s achievement. Mandaviya highlighted Kusale’s groundbreaking success, while Kharge expressed national pride in Kusale’s precision and determination.
The historic win has drawn widespread acclaim from political leaders and the public alike, marking a significant milestone in Indian sports.
