Tumakuru, 25th August. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to a road accident in Tumakuru district, Karnataka.
PM Modi has also announced an ex-gratia from PMNRF for the victims.
The Prime Minister’s Office tweeted, “The accident in Tumakuru district, Karnataka is heart-rending. Condolences to the bereaved families. Prayers with the injured. Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be paid to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be paid Rs. 50,000: PM”

At least 9 people were killed and 13 others were injured in a road accident near Kalambella in Tumakuru early Thursday morning. The accident happened when a tempo collided with a lorry.
In a statement, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, who is also the Tumakuru district in-charge, said he has directed officials to ensure that the injured receive the necessary treatment.
