PM Modi Condoles Demise of Gujarat’s First Woman Chief Secretary Dr. Manjula Subramaniam

New Delhi, 2nd Jan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday condoled the demise of veteran bureaucrat, Dr. Manjula Subramaniam.

“Anguished by the demise of veteran bureaucrat Dr. Manjula Subramaniam Ji. She was widely respected for her understanding of policy related issues and action-oriented approach. I recall my interactions with her when I was CM. Condolences to her family and friends. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

 

Manjula Subramaniam, Gujarat’s first woman chief secretary, died on Sunday in a hospital in Vadodara from health complications, according to a district official.

She was an IAS officer from the 1972 batch.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel both expressed their condolences following her death.

She retired in 2008 after serving as the state’s chief secretary during Modi’s tenure as chief minister.
