PM Modi Inaugurates 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav, Emphasizes Youth Commitment to Values

On the auspicious occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Sunday. The ceremony witnessed the release of a commemorative stamp and coin by the Prime Minister, commemorating this significant milestone.

In his address to the gathering, Prime Minister Modi expressed reverence for the teachings of Bhagwan Mahaveer and underscored the commitment of the youth towards embodying these values. He acknowledged the Jain community’s guidance and blessings and extended his best wishes to all citizens on Mahaveer Jayanti.

Referring to the dance drama presentation by school children titled “Vartaman mein Vardhaman”, the Prime Minister highlighted the dedication and commitment of the youth towards the values of Bhagwan Mahaveer, noting it as a positive sign for the nation’s progress.

The significance of the 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav was emphasized by Prime Minister Modi, who noted various auspicious coincidences aligning with this milestone, including the nation’s journey towards a golden century of independence and the 75th year of the Constitution.

Prime Minister Modi reflected on India’s enduring civilization, rooted in spirituality and farsightedness, which has made it a beacon of humanity and a global leader. He emphasized India’s commitment to principles of truth and non-violence, advocating for peace and harmony in the face of global conflict.

Speaking on Jainism, the Prime Minister highlighted its essence as the path of victory (Jin) and praised India’s history of self-improvement without aggression towards other nations. He lauded the role of saints and sages in guiding India through challenging times.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of modernity aligned with spirituality, stating that India’s identity is rooted in its pride and resilience. He called for a revival of Bhagwan Mahaveer’s teachings, underscoring their relevance in contemporary times.

PM Modi concluded his address by urging citizens to embrace the principles of Asteya (non-stealing) and Ahimsa (non-violence) and reaffirmed his commitment to the nation’s future. The ceremony was attended by Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and other dignitaries, along with saints from the Jain community.

As India celebrates the 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav, the event serves as a reminder of the enduring legacy of Bhagwan Mahaveer’s teachings and India’s cultural richness, fostering unity, peace, and progress.
