Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his heartfelt wishes for the swift recovery and good health of UK’s King Charles III, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer.

In a statement shared on ‘X’ platform, PM Modi joined the people of India and prayed for the monarch’s speedy recovery. Buckingham Palace confirmed the diagnosis on Monday, stating that the King has been advised by his doctors to postpone public engagements while he undergoes regular treatments.

Despite this setback, King Charles III will continue to fulfill his official duties, handling state matters and paperwork as usual.

Buckingham Palace emphasized the King’s positive outlook towards his treatment and his eagerness to resume full public duties soon. The decision to share his diagnosis was made in order to prevent speculation and to aid public understanding of cancer.

Last week, the King underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate in London, spending three nights at the London Clinic near Regent’s Park. King Charles III ascended to the throne last year at the age of 74 after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. While generally in good health, he underwent a procedure to remove a non-cancerous growth from his face in 2008.

Prostate enlargement, a common condition among British men, affects more than one in three during their lifetime, according to the National Health Service.
