PM Modi, Sheikh Khaled Discuss India-UAE Cooperation
India, UAE reaffirm Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discuss investment, defence, space, nuclear energy and technology

New Delhi, 12th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, on September 12 on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
The two leaders reiterated the significance of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is based on strong political, cultural, commercial, energy and people-to-people ties.
They recalled the recent visits of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India in January 2026 and Prime Minister Modi to the UAE in May 2026.
Modi appreciated the UAE’s active and constructive participation in BRICS under India’s chairship. The leaders welcomed the positive outcomes achieved within BRICS and agreed to continue working closely through the platform to advance shared interests and strengthen cooperation.
The leaders also reviewed progress in bilateral relations across various sectors. They welcomed the announcement by the UAE’s International Holding Company (IHC) to invest $11.5 billion in an integrated greenfield aluminium project in Odisha, described as India’s largest integrated aluminium investment. The project is expected to help position Odisha as a global aluminium manufacturing hub.
The two leaders also acknowledged the potential role of L’Imad, the UAE’s newest sovereign investment fund, in further deepening bilateral economic ties.
They discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in strategic and emerging areas, including defence, space, nuclear energy, technology and innovation.
The meeting reaffirmed the tradition of regular leadership-level engagement and the enduring partnership between India and the UAE.
