Polling in 20 Urban Local Bodies in Tripura to Be Held On November 25

Agartala, 23rd Oct. Elections to 20 urban local bodies in Tripura, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), will be held on November 25. Officials gave this information on Friday.

The five-year term of the AMC and other municipal bodies ended on December 20 last year, but the BJP-led Tripura government did not hold elections due to the COVID-19 pandemic, creating a controversy.

Announcing the poll, State Election Commissioner Manik Lal Dey said that the notification scheduled for the election would be issued on October 27 and the last date for filing nominations would be November 3. Counting of votes will take place on November 28.

Dey said elections will be held for 334 seats in 20 ULBs, of which 157 seats will be reserved for women.

There are a total of 5,94,772 eligible voters, out of which 3,00,777 are female, more than 2,93,979 male voters. There are 16 transgender voters.

The elections will be conducted through electronic voting machines and keeping in mind all the covid protocols.
