Prashant Kishor presents the Congress with a roadmap for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and asks leaders to aim for 400 seats

GG News Bureau,
New Delhi, 16th  April.
Top Congress leaders met at Sonia Gandhi’s residence on Saturday to discuss the party’s strategy for the upcoming assembly elections and the next general election, where poll strategist Prashant Kishore is said to have given them a presentation on the way forward.

He reportedly told top Congress officials to focus on 400 seats in the upcoming general elections, while also highlighting the party’s flaws.
Kishor gave a detailed presentation on the strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, according to senior party leader KC Venugopal, who also attended the meeting. The poll strategist’s plan will be reviewed by a team appointed by Sonia Gandhi. Venugopal stated that the group will submit its report to Sonia Gandhi, who will make the final decision, within a week.
The Congress leaders were also said to have discussed the party’s strategy for the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, as well as the party’s ‘Chintan Shivir’ in Rajasthan this month. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Digvijay Singh, Ambika Soni, Mallikarjun Khagre, KC Venugopal, and Ajay Maken were among those who attended the meeting.

The meeting is also taking place as rumours about Kishor joining Congress circulate. Following the recent election debacle in five states, Congress is attempting to reopen negotiations with Kishor. The results of the five Assembly elections came as a surprise to the Congress party, which was hoping to improve its chances in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The brainstorming session is scheduled for later this month to work out Congress’ strategy for strengthening the organization at the grassroots level and proposing changes to the party. Kishore is also said to have given a presentation to Congress leaders in preparation for the induction of Naresh Patel, a Patidar leader in Gujarat. The current political situation was also discussed by the leaders.
Prashant Kishor previously worked with Congress in the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections. In the 2017 Punjab elections, he was credited with helping Congress and Captain Amarinder Singh win 77 out of 117 seats. Kishor rose to prominence following the BJP’s landslide victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The meeting takes place against the backdrop of the Congress’ election preparations for the Gujarat and Himachal Assembly elections this year. The Congress is preparing to call a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) ahead of the ‘Chintan Shivir.’ The CWC will meet to finalize the Chintan Shivir agenda.
Sonia Gandhi has delegated this responsibility to senior leaders like Ambika Soni and Mukul Wasnik, who have been meeting with other leaders to finalize the agenda for the CWC and the Chintan Shivir.
