President of Air Force Family Welfare Association Inaugurates Umeed Niketan at Base Repair Depot Air Force Palam

Neeta Chaudhari, President of the Air Force Family Welfare Association, visited the Base Repair Depot Air Force Palam on May 17, 2024, to inaugurate Umeed Niketan, an advanced Therapy Centre catering to children with special needs.

Accompanied by esteemed dignitaries, Chaudhari was warmly received by Air Commodore Harsh Bahl, Air Officer Commanding of the Depot, and Wing Commander Reena Bahl (Retd), President of the Air Force Family Welfare Association (Local).

Umeed Niketan has been meticulously designed to provide a nurturing environment where children with special needs can thrive, grow, and learn essential life skills through tailored recreational activities. From sensory exploration and speech therapy to adaptive sports and interactive immersive experiences, the center offers a diverse range of programs aimed at promoting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of special children.

Catering to approximately 55 specially abled children, Umeed Niketan is supported by a dedicated team of trained special educators. The inauguration ceremony, attended by regional Presidents of Air Force Family Welfare Associations from across the country, along with the spouses of senior Air Marshals from the Delhi area, emphasized the Indian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to enhancing facilities for the welfare of Air Force families.

The inauguration of Umeed Niketan marks a significant milestone in the IAF’s ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive support and care for individuals with special needs within the Air Force community.
