President of India Accepts Resignation, Announces New Governors

New Delhi, 28th July. In a significant reshuffle, the President of India has accepted the resignation of Shri Banwarilal Purohit from his position as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. This decision has led to a series of new gubernatorial appointments across various states.

The President has made the following appointments of Governors:

Shri Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan.
Shri Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana.
Shri Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as the Governor of Sikkim.
Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand.
Shri Ramen Deka has been appointed as the Governor of Chhattisgarh.
Shri C H Vijayashankar has been appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya.
Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, previously the Governor of Jharkhand with additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra.
Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, previously the Governor of Assam, has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, previously the Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and has also been given additional charge as the Governor of Manipur.

Additionally, the President has appointed Shri K. Kailashnathan as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, effective from the date he assumes charge of his office.

These appointments will take effect from the dates the respective individuals assume charge of their new positions.
