The Punjab government has launched the ‘Mukhya Mantri Tirth Yatra Yojna’ on the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. This program aims to send elderly people from the state on pilgrimage trips free of charge, using trains and buses.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, who attended the launch event with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, announced that the state government will cover all the expenses for the pilgrimage.

Kejriwal, who is also the Chief Minister of Delhi, expressed his happiness on the auspicious day of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary and highlighted that the Mukhya Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojana for elderly people has started in Punjab. The first train carrying devotees departed from Amritsar to Hazur Sahib in Maharashtra, with around 300 pilgrims from Amritsar, 200 from Jalandhar, and 500 from Dhuri on board.

Through this scheme, people will have the opportunity to visit religious places like Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Patna Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, Mata Naina Devi temple, Chintpurni, and others, using trains and buses without any cost.

Kejriwal mentioned that it was his government in Delhi that initiated the pilgrimage scheme a few years ago, and so far, 80,000 people have visited various religious places through this program.

The Punjab cabinet approved the ‘Mukhya Mantri Tirath Yatra’ scheme on November 6. The state government has allocated Rs 40 crore for its implementation.
