Punjab Police Arrest Drug Inspector in Major Crackdown on Smuggling Operations

Mohali, 13th Sept. In a major breakthrough, the Punjab Police’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested a drug inspector involved in facilitating smuggling operations linked to illegal pharmaceuticals and drug networks. The arrest took place in Mohali, and authorities recovered ₹1.49 crore in cash from the accused.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, in a post on X, confirmed the arrest and revealed that the inspector had been coordinating with jailed drug smugglers to maintain their networks outside prison.

“The accused was in contact with drug smugglers inside jail, facilitating their drug smuggling operations through illegal pharmaceuticals and medical stores,” Yadav stated.

During the operation, ANTF uncovered serious financial irregularities, freezing 24 bank accounts containing ₹7.09 crore and seizing two bank lockers. The police also confiscated 260 grams of gold and foreign currency.

Additionally, substantial assets linked to the illegal proceeds were identified, including real estate worth ₹2.40 crore in Zirakpur and Dabwali.

The arrest marks a critical step in Punjab’s ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace and dismantle smuggling networks across the state.
