Puri, Odisha 14th July. The Odisha government will open the Ratna Bhandar, the revered treasury of the 12th-century Jagannath temple in Puri, on Sunday after 46 years to conduct an inventory of the decorations and other valuables, according to an official.

The treasury was last open in 1978.

“The Ratna Bhandar of the Jagannath temple will be reopened today at 1.28 pm,” said Justice Biswanath Rath, chairman of the committee created by the state government to oversee the inventory of treasures in the treasury.

The decision was made at a committee meeting in Puri, he explained.

Members of the committee, including Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) head administrator Arabinda Padhee, will visit the treasury after it reopens, he said.

The former Orissa High Court judge further stated that a temporary location for the valuables had been identified.
