Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot Writes to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for Early Conduct of Army Recruitment Rallies

Jaipur, 1st March. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wrote a letter to the Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh for early conduction of army recruitment rallies in the state.

Gehlot said in the letter that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, rallies for recruitment in the army could not be organized regularly for the last two years. Due to this, thousands of youth have crossed the age limit prescribed for recruitment and their dream of joining the armed forces is being shattered, the letter read.

The Chief Minister has also urged the Union Defence Minister to give 2 years relaxation in the upper age limit to these candidates in the recruitment rallies.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said in the letter that due to the COVID pandemic, recruitment rallies are not being held in the state at present. In the year 2021, three recruitment rallies were held in Udaipur, Jaipur and Ajmer, but their written examination has not been conducted yet.

Referring to the data received in the letter, Gehlot said that for the recruitment in the army at the national level, 127 in the year 2015-16, 102 in the year 2016-17, 106 in the year 2017-18, and 92-92 rallies were organized in in the year 2018-19 and 2019-20, but for the past two years, thousands of youths have become elder than the prescribed maximum age limit as rallies were not organized regularly.

The Chief Minister urged Rajnath Singh to direct the Directorate of Recruitment (Army Headquarters) to organize recruitment rallies at the earliest and make provision of relaxation of 2 years in the upper age limit to the candidates, so that they can serve the nation by joining the Armed Forces.
