Rajasthan Polls: BJP’s Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore Emerges Victorious in Jhotwara Assembly Constituency

 BJP candidate Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who is also the Jaipur Rural MP, emerged victorious in the Jhotwara assembly seat in Rajasthan.

The Election Commission of India on Sunday announced that Rathore won by a significant margin of 50,167 votes. He secured a total of 1,47,913 votes, defeating his closest competitor Abhishek Choudhary from the Congress party.

Ashu Singh Surpura, a rebel BJP candidate who ran as an independent, came in third with 55,159 votes.

Rathore, who is a national spokesperson for the BJP, had a successful career as an ace shooter and won a silver medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics in double trap shooting.

He joined politics in 2013 after serving in the Army for 23 years. Rathore won the Jaipur Rural seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and was appointed as the minister of state for information and broadcasting.

He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in the 2019 general elections.

The polling for 199 out of the 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan took place on November 25.
