New Delhi, 2nd April. Y
oga guru Ramdev is scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court today regarding Patanjali Ayurved’s misleading advertisements.

During the last hearing, the Supreme Court strongly criticized Patanjali for not following its orders and instructed Ramdev and the company’s Managing Director Balkrishna to personally appear before the court today.

Following the hearing, an unconditional apology was submitted to the court, clarifying that Patanjali’s aim was to encourage people in the country to live a healthier life by using its products.

On February 27, the Supreme Court ordered the company to immediately stop all electronic and print advertisements for its medicines that contained misleading information.

The court also reprimanded the government for not taking action, stating that they were neglecting the issue. The bench expressed disappointment and urged the government to take immediate action.

The case originated in November last year when the Supreme Court, in response to a petition from the Indian Medical Association (IMA), warned Patanjali Ayurved against making false and misleading claims in its advertisements about its medicines.

The IMA pointed out several ads that allegedly portrayed allopathy and doctors in a negative light, claiming that companies producing ayurvedic medicines were also making false statements to deceive the public.

According to the IMA’s counsel, these ads suggested that medical practitioners were dying despite using modern medicines themselves.
