Respect Mandate, Going to Tender My Resignation to Governor, says Himachal CM Jairam Thakur

Shimla, 8th Dec. With the Congress poised to gain a majority in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said on Thursday that he respects the mandate and will hand over his resignation to the governor.

“I respect the mandate. In a short while, I am going to hand over my resignation to the governor,” Thakur told reporters.

The Congress appeared to be on its way to a majority in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, as it surged ahead of the BJP, winning 16 seats and leading in 23 others.

According to the most recent results and trends, the ruling BJP had won 13 seats and was leading in another 13.

Three Independents have also triumphed.

Since 1985, no incumbent government has been elected in Himachal Pradesh.
