Rishikesh, 27th April.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband, Robert Vadra, has hinted at a potential foray into active politics, stating that there is widespread support for his entry into the political arena across the country.

Vadra, who had previously expressed interest in contesting from the Amethi parliamentary seat, criticized the incumbent MP, Smriti Irani, for allegedly failing to deliver on her promises.

“The voice is coming from the entire country. They want me to get into active politics as I have always been among the people of the country,” Vadra stated, emphasizing his long-standing connection with various regions. He asserted that the electorate in Amethi desires change and criticized the BJP for alleged misuse of central agencies.

Vadra’s intentions to contest from Amethi were previously highlighted earlier this month, where he highlighted the expectations of the people from the region. However, he emphasized that any decision regarding his candidacy in Amethi or Rae Bareli would be made by the Congress leadership.

Amidst speculations regarding his candidacy, posters featuring Robert Vadra surfaced outside the party’s office in Amethi, raising anticipation of a possible ticket. Nevertheless, Vadra clarified that the final decision on candidature rests with the Congress leadership.

In Uttar Pradesh, as per the seat-sharing agreement between the Samajwadi Party and Congress, the Congress will contest 17 seats, including Amethi and Rae Bareli. While Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi are expected to contest from Rae Bareli and Amethi, respectively, a formal decision is anticipated after April 26, with nominations set to commence next week.

Amethi and Rae Bareli constituencies are slated to vote in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 20.
