Tumakuru, 1st April: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday attended the 119th birth anniversary celebrations and Guruvandana Mahotsava of Sree Sree Sivakumara Mahaswamiji at Sree Siddaganga Math in Karnataka, paying tribute to the revered saint’s legacy of service and spirituality.

Addressing the gathering, the President said that saints like Sivakumara Swamiji embody the very soul of the nation, adding that his spiritual legacy continues to guide society even after his passing in 2019.

She noted that the Swamiji dedicated his life to the welfare of the poor and underprivileged, setting an example of spirituality expressed through service.

Murmu appreciated the efforts of Sree Siddaganga Math in continuing this legacy, particularly through its contributions in education and healthcare. She highlighted that the institution provides education from primary to higher levels, including engineering and management, and runs a hospital offering quality medical services.

Emphasising the importance of education, the President said it is the foundation of personality development, character building, and self-reliance. She noted that by educating students from marginalised and rural backgrounds, the Math is contributing to an inclusive society.

The President also highlighted the link between spirituality, public service, and national service, stating that such values are essential for nation-building.

Praising Karnataka’s contributions, she said the state stands as a strong example of progress driven by service, spirituality, and dedication.

Murmu called upon citizens to follow the path of service, philanthropy, and duty to truly honour the legacy of Sivakumara Swamiji.
