New Delhi, 24th July. The Supreme Court of India declared on Tuesday that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate claims of a systemic paper leak in the NEET-UG exam, thus rejecting the need for a retest. The court said that ordering a new test would have significant repercussions for the over 24 lakh students who took the exam.

In its ruling, the Supreme Court supported the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) decision regarding the NEET-UG physics question. An expert panel, including IIT Delhi, confirmed that only one of the provided answers was correct.

The panel determined that the correct answer to the contentious question was option four: “atoms are electrically neutral as they contain equal number of positive and negative charges.”

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud affirmed, “So NTA was correct in its answer key that option 4 was correct.”
