New Delhi, 6th Oct. The Supreme Court issued notice to the governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, as well as the Centre and the Election Commission (EC), on Friday, in response to a petition demanding comprehensive guidelines prohibiting political parties from providing cash and other freebies at the expense of taxpayers.
The Supreme Court has asked them to respond within four weeks.
A court led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud issued notice and clubbed the case with an already existing freebies case.
