Search Continues as Navyman Sahil Verma Remains Missing at Sea

Despite a massive search operation involving multiple ships and aircraft, there has been no sign of the missing seaman, leaving his loved ones distraught and clamoring for answers.

The distraught father, Subash Chander, and mother, Rama Kumari, hailing from the Ghou Manhasan area of Jammu, are now appealing to the highest authorities in the country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, for swift intervention and a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into their son’s disappearance.

Expressing disbelief at the baffling turn of events, Mr. Chander voiced his astonishment that his son could vanish from a naval ship without leaving any trace. “It is astonishing that a soldier went missing from his naval ship and is not traceable. I have been told that the CCTV cameras installed on the ship did not find anyone falling into the sea. Then where is my son?” Mr. Chander lamented.

The family, left in the dark about the incident until two days after Sahil’s disappearance, is demanding justice and answers. “We got a call on February 29 informing that our son went missing on board the ship two days before that … we last talked to him on Sunday (February 25) and nothing is known (about) what happened to him,” Mr. Chander added.

The Western Naval Command, headquartered in Mumbai, acknowledged the grim situation, confirming that a high-level board of inquiry has been set up to investigate Sahil Verma’s disappearance. Despite the ongoing search efforts, there have been no breakthroughs thus far.

Rama Kumari, Sahil’s mother, suspects a cover-up and alleges that vital information is being withheld.

Sahil’s maternal uncle, Gautam, raised questions about the ship’s return to base before setting sail again.

“We have heard that the ship returned to base for a day before leaving again. How is it possible that he went missing from the ship?” he questioned.
