Senior BJP Leader Om Prakash Mathur Sworn in as Sikkim’s 16th Governor

Gangtok, 31st July. Senior BJP leader Om Prakash Mathur was sworn in as the 16th governor of Sikkim on Wednesday.

The oath of office was administered by Sikkim High Court Chief Justice Biswanath Somadder at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan in Gangtok.

Mathur, 72, succeeds Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who has been appointed Governor of Assam.

The event was attended by Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, along with other ministers and senior officials.

A former Rajya Sabha member, Mathur’s appointment marks a significant development in the state’s political landscape.
