Serial Bigamist Arrested for Marrying and Duping Over 20 Women Across India

Palghar, 29th July. A 43-year-old man in Maharashtra’s Palghar district has been arrested for allegedly marrying more than 20 women across the country and duping them of their valuables, according to police officials on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Firoz Niaz Sheikh, was apprehended by the MBVV police from Kalyan in Thane district on July 23, following a complaint lodged by a woman from Nalla Sopara, senior inspector Vijaysingh Bhagal said.

Sheikh befriended the complainant on a matrimonial website and subsequently married her, the official reported. During the arrest, police recovered a laptop, mobile phones, debit and credit cards, chequebooks, and jewellery from the accused.

Investigations have revealed that Sheikh targeted divorcees and widows on matrimonial sites, married them, and cheated them of their valuables. He has reportedly duped more than 20 women since 2015, spanning different parts of the country including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Gujarat.
