Shiv Sena Member Killed, 3 Injured in Sangli as Tanker Collides with SUV on Way to Mumbai Rally

New Delhi, 24th Oct. A 39-year-old official of Shiv Sena was killed and three party workers were injured on Tuesday when a tanker collided with their SUV in Sangli district, Maharashtra. They were on their way to Mumbai for the Dussehra rally, according to the police.

The incident took place in the morning at Shirdhon village in Kavathe Mahankal tehsil, approximately 400 km away from the location of the incident.

“A milk tanker crashed into the SUV from behind, causing it to overturn near a bridge,” said a police official.

The local Shiv Sena official, identified as Vivek Teli, lost his life, while three of his colleagues were injured. One of them is in critical condition, the official added.

The tanker driver was also injured and is currently in police custody.

The process of registering an accidental case at Kavathe Mahankal police station is currently underway.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is scheduled to address the annual Dussehra rally in south Mumbai later in the evening.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde has announced that he will cover the medical expenses of the injured worker, as stated by a party spokesperson.
