Senior Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav took a firm stand in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Friday, reaffirming his allegiance to the party and its chief, Akhilesh Yadav, amidst perceived jibes from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Addressing the House during the budget session, Yadav responded to Adityanath’s comments, asserting his commitment to the party’s socialist ideology and his familial ties with Akhilesh.

Yadav’s remarks came in response to Adityanath’s recent comments suggesting a strained relationship between Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav, referring to the latter as “chachu” (uncle).

Dismissing Adityanath’s insinuations, Shivpal Yadav emphasized his unwavering support for the party’s core constituents, including the backward classes, Dalits, and minorities, collectively known as the PDA.

During his address, Shivpal Yadav humorously remarked on Adityanath’s purported “concern” for him, quipping about a hypothetical “chacha pe charcha” (uncle’s discussion) by the Chief Minister. He reiterated his socialist beliefs and reiterated his familial bond with Akhilesh Yadav, drawing smiles from the Leader of the Opposition.

The uncle-nephew duo has experienced strained relations since 2016, culminating in the merger of Shivpal’s party with the Samajwadi Party before the Mainpuri by-election. Despite past disagreements, Shivpal Yadav expressed solidarity with the party’s ideals while critiquing the current budget as lacking vision and inclusivity.

Touching upon the recent inauguration of the Ram Temple, Yadav acknowledged the significance of the event but urged the government to prioritize the establishment of “Ram Rajya” (ideal governance) through socialist principles. He criticized the government’s failure to uphold true “Ram Rajya,” emphasizing the importance of socialism in achieving this vision.

Meanwhile, members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lauded the state budget’s provisions, attributing Uttar Pradesh’s transformation to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

BJP leaders commended the budget’s focus on welfare schemes and development initiatives, contrasting it with the perceived lack of progress in previous administrations.
