Siddaramaiah Calls CLP Meeting Amid MUDA Site Allotment Scam Allegations

GG News Bureau
Bengaluru, 18th August. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has scheduled a Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting on August 22 following the Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s decision to grant permission for his prosecution in connection with the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, the meeting will take place in the Vidhana Soudha conference hall. The session is expected to focus on the recent developments surrounding the MUDA case.

A source in the CM’s office shared with PTI, “The Chief Minister will brief the Congress legislators about the facts of the case and formulate a strategy to fight it legally and politically.”

Governor Gehlot’s approval for prosecution comes after complaints were filed by three private individuals. The alleged scam involves the allotment of compensatory sites to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, in an upmarket area of Mysuru. It is claimed that the value of the allotted sites was much higher than her original land, which had been acquired by MUDA.

Under the controversial 50:50 ratio scheme, MUDA allotted 50% of developed land to owners in exchange for undeveloped land acquired for residential layouts. Parvathi was allotted 14 sites in exchange for 3 acres, 16 gunts of her land.

The opposition BJP has labeled the MUDA allotment as a “scam,” claiming the financial magnitude ranges between ₹4,000 crore and ₹5,000 crore. In response to the allegations, the Congress government constituted a single-member inquiry commission led by former High Court Judge Justice P N Desai on July 14 to investigate the matter.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has strongly denied any wrongdoing in the case.
