New Delhi, 11th April.
Jitender Singh Shunty, a former legislator and dedicated social worker, reminisced about a significant moment during the Covid-19 pandemic when he received an unexpected call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 2:30 AM.

This heartwarming gesture of appreciation from the Prime Minister served as a morale booster, inspiring Shunty to continue his selfless service to society.

During the peak of the pandemic, Shunty was actively involved in cremating unclaimed bodies at the Seemapuri cremation ground, where hundreds of corpses were received daily. His relentless efforts meant he couldn’t return home for 21 days, illustrating his unwavering commitment to his cause.

Despite facing objections from neighbors concerned about the risk of virus transmission, Shunty persisted in his noble mission. It was during one such late-night cremation that he received the unexpected call from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Shunty, with hands soiled from his work, directed his driver to answer the call on his behalf. To his surprise, he found himself speaking directly to PM Modi, who commended him for his dedication and noble service to humanity.

PM Modi’s words of encouragement, acknowledging Shunty’s efforts and assuring him of the nation’s support, left a lasting impact. Shunty expressed his gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing how it boosted his morale and reaffirmed the importance of his work.

Reflecting on the incident, Shunty noted the Prime Minister’s keen observation of events and attention to detail, highlighting the importance of staying grounded despite holding positions of power.

This touching anecdote is a testament to the compassion and leadership exhibited by PM Modi, demonstrating his ability to connect with individuals at the grassroots level and uplift their spirits during challenging times.
