Sonia Gandhi and Jaya Bachchan Share Light Moment Amid INDIA Bloc Walkout

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 25th July. On Wednesday, a brief moment of camaraderie was witnessed in Parliament as Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, accompanied by Congress leader Rajiv Shukla, was greeted by Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien. Shortly after, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Jaya Bachchan approached Gandhi, leading to a shared light moment and laughter between the two.

The friendly exchange occurred amidst a day of heightened political tension.

The INDIA Bloc MPs staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha, protesting what they described as discriminatory budgetary allocations against opposition-ruled states. The opposition sought to address these concerns as the House convened.

Historically, the Gandhi and Bachchan families shared a close bond. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan were once very close.

Rajiv Gandhi even encouraged Bachchan to run for Parliament, leading to his 1984 victory from Allahabad. However, following Bachchan’s resignation amid the Bofors scandal, the relationship between the families strained, leading to a cooling of ties.
