Subject Expert Committee Sends Recommendation to DCGI for the Use of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for 2-18 years old

New Delhi, 12th Oct. Soon children can also be vaccinated with corona vaccine in India. The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) formed to consider this has recommended in favor of doing so on its behalf. According to the news agency PTI sources, the committee has recommended the use of Covaxin made by Bharat Biotech to children aged 2 to 18 years. According to the agency, the committee has also sent its recommendation to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). Now DCGI has to decide to give the final approval in this regard.

Bharat Biotech, a Hyderabad-based company that makes vaccines, submitted the Phase-2 and Phase-3 trial data to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) earlier this month for its vaccination to children aged 2 to 18 years. were given. The company handed over these data to CDSCO for verification and then emergency approval.

According to sources, the Subject Expert Committee had considered the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) application given for the vaccine on Monday itself. After which it was decided to send it to DCGI for approval.

The committee has said in its recommendation, “After deliberating in detail about this, the committee has recommended to allow limited use of this vaccine to children aged 2 to 18 years in emergency situations with certain conditions. ” After the recommendation of the Expert Committee, now DCGI has to give the final approval in this regard.
