New Delhi, 30th Nov. Suspended Rajya Sabha MPs will stage a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the Parliament premises on Wednesday. All these MPs will write a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu to revoke their suspension.

Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien said that both the suspended TMC MPs (Dola Sen and Shanta Chhetri) will sit on a dharna in front of the Gandhi statue from 10 to 6 am throughout the winter session from Wednesday. He said that we would invite other MPs also to extend their support.

There was a huge ruckus in both the houses of Parliament on the issues of suspension of MPs on Tuesday. Opposition parties including Congress, TMC also staged a walkout from the house. Leaders of 16 political parties, including the Congress, met Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu over the issue and urged to revoke the suspension of these members. Naidu, however, said it is not possible without the suspended MPs apologizing.

Even during the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha, Venkaiah Naidu rejected the demand to revoke the suspension of the MPs. He said that action was taken as per the rules. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said that there is no point in apologizing. He said that the suspension of MPs is against the rules and it should be withdrawn. He said that the MPs should have been allowed to reply.
