Tajinder Singh Bittu, Priyanka Gandhi’s top aide, leaves the Congress and joins the BJP

New Delhi, 21st April. Close aide to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, Tajinder Singh Bittu left the ancient party on Saturday and became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Bittu submitted his resignation from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and his resignation as co-incharge of the Himachal Pradesh AICC secretary in a letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge.

“I hereby tender my resignation from my post as secretary Co-Incharge of Himachal Pradesh and from the Indian National Congress primary membership, effective immediately,” he stated in the letter.

In the presence of party national secretary Vinod Tawde and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Bittu joined the BJP at the party’s Delhi headquarters.
“After over 35 years of membership, I believe the Congress party has strayed from the problems at hand. I don’t want to criticize anyone. He remarked of his decision to join the saffron party, “I joined BJP for the betterment of Punjab.”

With the country preparing for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the development occurs at a critical juncture.

The first round of Lok Sabha elections, which covered all seats in 21 states and union territories, took place on April 19.

Voting will take place on June 4 after the elections conclude in seven phases until June 1.
