TMC Leader Kunal Ghosh Voices Discontent, says Wants to Quit Party Positions

Kolkata, 2nd March.
Senior Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh has stirred controversy within the party by expressing his desire to resign from all positions, citing dissatisfaction with the current leadership and alleged collusion with the BJP by certain senior members.

Ghosh, who serves as the party’s spokesperson and state general secretary, took to social media to announce his intentions, asserting that he feels out of place within the party structure. While dispelling rumors of defection to another political outfit, he reiterated his commitment to the TMC cause.

In a scathing rebuke directed at some senior party figures, Ghosh accused them of treating the TMC as their personal domain and cozying up to the BJP, particularly highlighting the conduct of Sudip Bandopadhyay, a TMC MP from North Kolkata. Bandopadhyay’s alleged alignment with the BJP, according to Ghosh, contradicts the party’s stance against the ruling party.

Ghosh’s statements echo his previous calls for the elevation of next-generation leaders within the TMC, aligning with the sentiments expressed by TMC chief Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee. However, the internal dissent has sparked debate within the party, with senior leaders resisting the notion of a mandatory retirement age in politics proposed by Abhishek Banerjee.

This latest episode underscores the ongoing power struggle within the TMC, reminiscent of past internal conflicts that have periodically roiled the party’s leadership. As the TMC navigates through these internal rifts, the political landscape in West Bengal remains in flux, with implications for the party’s electoral prospects and future trajectory.
