New Delhi, 22nd April.
The recent arrests of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and JMM’s Hemant Soren have brought their wives, Sunita Kejriwal and Kalpana Soren, into the spotlight. They have emerged as key figures in the INDIA camp during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, indicating their readiness to take on larger political roles.

Both women participated in a rally in Ranchi alongside other INDIA bloc leaders, where the opposition camp launched a strong criticism against the BJP for allegedly misusing central agencies to target states ruled by the opposition.

During the rally, two chairs were symbolically left empty on stage with name tags for Kejriwal and Soren, while their spouses took their place on the platform.

The Ulgulan Nyay Mahrally, organized by the JMM, was a significant display of strength with leaders from 28 political parties in attendance, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Tejashwi Yadav, Bhagwant Mann, and Akhilesh Yadav.

Sunita Kejriwal, in her speech, criticized the government for allegedly denying insulin to her diabetic husband in jail, a claim previously made by the Aam Aadmi Party.

She expressed her determination to fight against what she called dictatorship, stating that her husband and Soren would eventually be released from jail. Soren also accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize opposition-led state governments.

At the rally, Soren shared a message from her husband condemning the misuse of central agencies to suppress opposition voices. Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case, while Soren had resigned from his position before his arrest in a laundering case linked to an alleged land fraud.

Despite the arrests, Kejriwal continues to serve as Chief Minister, with the AAP asserting that there is no law preventing him from governing while in jail. Speculations suggest that Soren may take over her husband’s position in the future.
