Tremors in Bengal After 5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Bangladesh

Kolkata, 2nd Dec. Tremors were felt in various parts of West Bengal as a 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit neighboring Bangladesh on Saturday morning.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred in southeastern Bangladesh at a depth of 55 km at 9:05 am.
The earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.6, happened on 02-12-2023 at 09:05:31 IST. The coordinates are Lat: 23.15 & Long: 90.89, with a depth of 55 km. The location is Bangladesh, India, as reported by the NCS.

The West Bengal Disaster Management Department stated that there have been no reports of damage from anywhere in the state so far.

“We are still awaiting the final report. Currently, there are no reports of any damage caused by the earthquake,” an official told PTI.

Officials from the Kolkata Police and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation also confirmed that there were no reports of loss of life or property damage in the eastern metropolis.
